Description
Herdwick Croft Carvan Park is a small, secluded, yet well equipped site at the Northern end of Bassenthwaite Lake, within easy reach of the best of the English Lake District. The site has static holiday homes for hire, sleeping up to six people in comfort, or sites for your own caravan or touring vehicle. There are excellent facilities including:

The views from the site are magnificent overlooking the best of the Lakeland fells including Skiddaw and Binsey. You are surrounded by tranquil countryside and woodland areas. Bassenthwaite Lake is 50 yards from the site. Well behaved Children & Dogs are Welcome. The site is within easy reach of Keswick on Derwentwater, Cockermouth and even Carlisle. There are superb family facilities nearby and it is an excellent area for the outdoor enthusiast.

The Northern Lakes are often regarded as the most beautiful area of the Lake District. Bassenthwaite Lake is situated between Keswick and Cockermouth and is overlooked by the Skiddaw mountain range. Herdwick Croft sits at the foot of the lake beside the River Cocker in a peaceful, yet very accessible, location.

The histric market town of Cockermouth has many attractions including a castle, Wordsworth House and the Jennings Brewery. Keswick is on the Northern shore of Derwentwater and has a good variety of shops, a cinema, leisure pool, theatre and more.

The caravan park is only 8 miles from the market town of Keswick on Derwentwater, and 5 miles from Cockermouth, the birthplace of Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (author of Mutiny on the Bounty). The picturesque Lakeland village of Bassenthwaite is only 2 miles away. Bassenthwaite Lake is ideal for those interested in watersports, Bassenthwaite Sailing Club is only one mile away where you can hire or launch a sailing dinghy, and the lake is excellent for windsurfing and canoeing or just relax on the lake shore enjoying the sun or a picnic.


Herdwick Croft is within 3 miles of Skiddaw and close to the Northern fell of Binsey, so walkers have a good selection of walks on their doorstep. The North Lakeland fells are renown for the quality and variety of the walks from gentle strolls to epic day adventures!


Cockermouth golf course is only 2 miles away, there is horse riding nearby and one mile away is a fitness centre complete with swimming pool. Whinlatter forest is excellent for mountain biking with many different forest trails around the woodland area. The property has a river running through it so visitors keen on fishing should bring their rods!

Directions
From the M6 Motorway: Turn off at Penrith - Junction 40 - then head along the A66 towards Keswick. Go past the Keswick turn off and continue along the A66 towards Cockermouth for about 6 miles. You will see Bassenthwaite Lake on your right and will pass through a winding dual carriageway. On the exit of the dual carriageway after 1/2 mile there is a turning right towards Bothel. Follow the signs for The Castle Inn (right again) and when you reach the small bridge over the River Derwent, cross over and Herdwick Croft is immediately infront of you!


From the South Lakes: Drop down into Keswick but turn right when you see signs for Penrith. Go up the hill then bear left following signs for Cockermouth. Follow the A66 towards Cockermouth.After 5 miles you will see Bassenthwaite Lake on your right and will pass through a winding dual carriageway.
